Brave Seasons

Be Brave

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9

I am surrounded by people who are navigating BRAVE seasons in their lives.

Brave changes…It is all of us.

It looks like  life as a newly single, empty-nest mom navigating life without a family around her…

It sounds like the two a.m. cry of  a critically ill newborn in a neonatal unit in a children’s hospital.

It feels like the possibility of a new career choice or returning to school after a lifetime lived, and it sports a solid dose of  anxiety mixed with a healthy  smidgen of fear and doubt.

It snatches your breath and zaps your strength like a cancer diagnosis…

It tastes like “living with less” when you are learning to say no…deciding to spend little, give away much, denying yourself the excess the world has tricked you to believe you need…

Can I do this  “BRAVE” thing?   Can I  trust myself to make  deep life changes when I honestly do not want to?

I am praying for these and for others of us who are scrambling to be brave.

For fearless soldiers of life who have found themselves in deep water continuing  to dog paddle…keeping  chins above the water line…

We all have our BRAVE seasons…

I am currently reading Annie Downs, Let’s All Be Brave: Living Life With Everything You Have.  I read her book Speak Love last spring and loved it… She is now on my short list of Fabulous Faves…

What is your  current brave season?

What battles are you fighting today?
