The Gift of a Good Monday…Just Enough

“I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed — or hungry, whether living in plenty — or in need.” Philippians 4:11-13

Yesterday was a good day…


On Monday,

there was the laughter of 4th graders, a little bit of rain,  a great cup of coffee in the  morning, dinner at home with my sweet man, and the knowledge of fuzzy socks and pajamas at the end of my day.  I know that this doesn’t sound like much to many of you, but for me it was good, and it was good enough…

I recently heard a recording of Christian author, Vicki Courtney, speaking  about the issue of “enough.”  Her point was that we are always running and  constantly searching for more. Why?

Why do we lack true contentment when we have so much for which to be thankful?

We constantly crave more…to fill up our empty spaces…

spaces which can only be filled with our Grand Creator, the very One who designed those spaces…

What is “enough” for you?

I’m not talking about settling for second best, or becoming complacent in our daily walk of faith with Christ…but

seeing the beauty of the  here and now …

embracing the simplicity of fewer choices…


being truly content with the manna we have been given for this day…

How many  of us really see a Monday for all it is and all it could be?

What about a Tuesday?

Father, with a heart overflowing with gratitude, I thank you for this day and the gift of living it solely to bring you glory. Amen.

Live in the whatevers today… whatever is true, right, noble, pure, lovely, righteous, excellence…Look for the praise worthy and offer it to the One who made all things…
